Urbanised beach

This development, halfway between a motel and a camping ground, is emblematic of the privatisation of Italy’s long sandy beaches. The enclosure includes volleyball pitches, a children’s playground, changing huts, and a kiosk/rental office. Complemented in less urbanised coastal areas by a shaded car park or even a swimming pool (between La Spezia and Viareggio, for example), this type of development attests through its proud use of numbering to the complete artificialisation of certain sections of the coastline.
